The Homestead

The Homestead is a ministry extension of Westview Community Church in Manhattan, Kansas.  The vision of the Homestead is to be a safe, residential house that is used for ministry to each Homesteader, 18 years & older needing our residence, who have exited the sex industry and have been through a measure of their healing and recovery, to live free of charge; enroll in school or participate in a job apprenticeship; continue with support and recovery work; and begin to move from being under a 100% supervisory program to 100% independence back into the mainstream of life in a productive, life-giving, and contributing way.

Position Available:  Marketing & Public Outreach Coordinator

Position Summary:  Christ-follower to develop fundraising plans; facilitate fundraising events; develop marketing materials; grant research, writing, application, follow-up; media updates to websites and facebook page.

Spiritual Gifts:  Administration, Giving, Exhortation

Talents or Abilities Desired:  Dependability, Money Management Skills, Friendly, Good Communication, Public Speaking, Organizational Skills, Detail-oriented, Writing Skills, Professional

Passion for:  resourcing and stewarding God’s resources and funneling them into worthwhile causes; making sure God’s people are informed and given God-directed opportunities.

Anticipated Time Commitments:

• Minimum of one year commitment
• Phone calls and meetings with potential donors
• Planning, organizing and facilitating fund-raising events
• Grant writing
• Keeping social media sites updated with current information

 

Position Available:  House Manager

Position Summary:  Stable, mature Christ-follower to live at The Homestead House as the house manager.  General oversight of the property (inside and outside) and general oversight of the residents.

Spiritual Gifts:  Love, Shepherding, Teaching, Wisdom

Talents or Abilities Desired:  Good boundaries, ability to listen, flexibility, dependability, consistent, good role model, organized

Best Personality Traits:  Extraverted, Motivational, Balances, Friendly, Non-judgmental, Soft yet Firm when needed, Patient

Passion for:  Ministering to women who have exited the sex industry, with a heart for understanding their special needs, especially at this re-entry phase of the recovery process

Anticipated Time Commitments and Duties:

• Doing Ministry:  Days, nights and weekends
• Participating in meetings/trainings:  Daily connection with Executive Director
• Overall function of home
• Maintain master calendar of Homesteaders and house activities/meetings
• New Homesteader Orientations
• Provide transportation as needed
• Be Available
